6 reasons to go on a cruise to Mykonos this year

Today, our delegate Tereza Samiecová will share with us her experience of the Greek island of Mykonos, one of the pearls of cruising the Eastern Mediterranean. 1) White houses, colourful terraces and fragrant flowers
These three words completely describe Mykonos and the centre of its capital city. Winding streets with whitewashed houses, colourful terraces and railings, where you will find souvenir shops as well as local tavernas and shops with luxury international brands. The atmosphere is complemented by the scent of the beautiful climbing flowers that are present in every street here.
2) Windmills
Mykonos is famous all over the world for its windmills. These historic buildings are characteristic of the island and offer spectacular views of the sea.
3) Beautiful beaches
Mykonos has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Aegean. Here you can either enjoy the sun on the sandy beaches just outside the town centre or explore the island and visit beaches such as Paradise Beach, Super Paradise Beach, Elia Beach and many more.
4) Sunsets in Little Venice or from windmills
The views of the sunset from the mills or from the cafés of the Little Venice district are an unforgettable experience that will appeal to everyone, even the less romantic soul.
5) Unrestrained night entertainment or a pleasant evening by the sea
If you're looking for a place full of nightlife, music and dancing, we guarantee that the Malé Venice district is the right place for you. After the sun goes down, its streets become a space where music, dancing and people having fun know no boundaries. However, if you're looking for a more peaceful al fresco dining experience by the sound of the sea, local restaurants can provide that magic too.
6) Archaeological monuments
According to Greek mythology, the island was the scene of a battle between Zeus and the Giants and is named after Apollo's grandson Mykonos. Just less than two kilometres from Mykonos is the island of Délos, an important archaeological site that was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990. According to Greek myth, the twins Apollo and Artemis were born here and the island was an important site of their cult. Today you can take a trip here and explore the ruins of the ancient temples.
